Read This About the Exam
The exam consists of 25 randomly-chosen multiple-choice (well, 4-choice to be exact) questions about Boulder.
You will find some questions trivially easy ("what, that's obvious!"), and others frustratingly difficult ("they didn't tell me I'd have to know how to calculate the amount of solar energy that lands on the roof of the Physics building at CU when it's 90 degrees out!"). Okay, just kidding... we won't ask you that one... today, anyway.
This exam is timed!
You will have 30 seconds per question. If the time runs out before you answer, you will automatically be given a zero for that question and will be directed to the next question.
So, to get the best possible score, first answer each question from your intuition (i.e., guess), and then take the time to think about whether that was a good choice after all. That way you'll at least have guessed with a 25% chance of being right.
IF YOU MUST STOP during the exam - to prevent your house from burning down, because you're having a heart attack, or something of that nature, you can pause the exam. Here's how to do it:
There is a yellow pause checkbox ( marked "PAUSE") at the bottom of every page beside the "Next" arrow. If you check the checkbox, the exam WILL NOT PAUSE IMMEDIATELY - it will pause AFTER the question you're working on has been answered, or after the time runs out for that question. So before pouring water on the fire - quick! guess an answer to the current question, and THEN pour water on your fire (and be sure to call 911).
When you are ready to complete the exam after pausing, either click on the "Continue with the next question" button on your screen, or if you've been logged out, go back to your User Profile, choose "My exam was Paused and I would like to resume where I left off", and your exam will start where you left off.
When you have finished the exam, you will receive your score, and you will find out whether you passed.
To pass, you must have answered at least 18 questions correctly.
If you passed, you will be honored on our "You're Awesome" page as a Certified Boulderite, and you will be entitled to receive various exciting prizes such as a bumper-sticker for your car declaring that YOU are an Certified Boulderite and should be respected as such by all people.
If you did not pass, then you may re-take the exam at your leisure - either right away or after you spend some time studying at the library (okay, just kidding about that last part). You may take the exam as often as needed. EACH TIME YOU TAKE THE EXAM, YOU WILL BE GIVEN 25 DIFFERENT QUESTIONS from our database. It's possible that some questions will be the same, but not many.
One of the coolest things about this exam, whether you passed or not, is that you can study your results -- i.e., the questions and answers -- and find out more about any question that was asked. Each question in this exam was submitted by a Boulder organization, and each answer has a link to a website where you can peruse the information to your heart's content. Here you can learn more about this wonderful city where we live. You will be able to access your results at any time after the exam, and as often as you wish.
Are you ready....?
